This self-employment scheme is meant to empower the rural poor by making them economically
selfreliant. It helps to create small businesses and enterprises in rural India.
Preference is given to SCs/STs, women and disabled persons. The scheme is open to
individuals and self-help groups.
- Individuals can get 30% of the cost of setting up a business subsidised. The amount
is limited to a maximum of Rs.7,500.
- SCs/STs can get 50% of the cost of setting up a business subsidised. The amount
is limited to a maximum of Rs.10,000.
- Self-help groups may get up to 50%, or a maximum of Rs.1.25 lakh as a subsidy for
the project.
- The individuals benefiting from the scheme can also get advice and help on marketing
their products from the implementing agency.
