Blackgram is popularly known as urd/mash.

 

 

Blackgram, popularly known as urd/mash, also belongs to the family leguminosae and is consumed mainly as pulse. As a dry crop, it is rotated with cotton and castor.

Climatic requirements:

Urd requires a hot and humid growing season. It can be grown successfully from sea level upto an elevation of 1800 metres. Heavy rains during flowering stage are harmful.


Yield:

400-500 kg per hectare.
